This piece of apparatus can go by several different names. When an officer is driving this truck, it's on radio status is Officer 24; for instance, if the chief is driving, the truck's name will be Chief 24. However if a regular firefighter is driving, the truck will go on radio as 24-81. This truck is outfitted to supply the chief with everything he needs to efficiently take command of a fire scene. The equipment inside includes but is not limited to: 1 SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus), Map books and drawing boards, road flares, first aid kit, and Multiple Police-Fire-Rescue compatible Low-band, High-Band, and Ultra-High-Band radios. It is important for the chief to be able to be the first on-scene in order to establish command and determine the priority of different responding apparatus to efficiently handle any situation.
