Oldwick Fire Company – Drone Program
Oldwick fire and other countywide officials are researching what the benefits, use cases, and other operational needs / requirements of starting a drone program. In April, our membership approved and created a drone exploratory committee. We are currently applying for grants/funding and putting together, SOG (standard operating guidelines) use cases based on NFPA 2400 and FAA Part 107 regulations. We welcome interested individuals to help build this program.
Recently, drone lead coordinator Steve Timko attend a UAS skill training class at the Millstone Valley Fire Department. We learned how drones can help find missing victims, preplanning, enhance safety, among delivery supplies to folks in distress. Our team is planning to attend additional sessions to be hosted by Homeland Security in utilizing drones for disaster management and more.
